About Melissa:

Melissa believes in ‘sharpening her saw’, so when she is not in the clinic, the yoga studio or working in the garden, she takes part in ongoing training. She has learnt (and continues to learn) from leading experts in the trauma field, such as Janina Fisher and Pat Ogden.

Approach:

Melissa has a simple vision: to help people overcome trauma, whether that be something experienced during childhood, adolescence and/or adulthood. When working with clients, she uses a body-oriented approach to therapy, specifically, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, in addition to other approaches, such as mindfulness and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT).

She is passionate about creating a safe, positive and helpful experience of therapy for clients.

Background and experience:

Melissa has worked in both public hospital and private practice settings for over 20 years. She enjoys working with individuals and conducting group therapy. She also finds great joy in supporting early career psychologists and is a Board-approved Psychology supervisor.

Melissa works with adults, in the areas of:

  • Trauma, including complex trauma,
  • Depression,
  • Anxiety,
  • Stress,
  • Relationships,
  • Grief and loss,
  • Adjustment/life transitions.
