Qualifications:

• Master of Clinical Psychology
• Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology
• Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology)

Background and experience:

Stefan has experience and interest in working with older adolescents and adults. He has helped people who are experiencing a range of mental health difficulties, varying in severity. He has worked in the public mental health system and in medical settings in hospitals.

Approach:

Stefan works in a holistic way, paying attention to the totality of human experience (e.g., thoughts, feelings, body sensations, beliefs). He works on his clients’ internal relationship, in other words, how you treat yourself. We often treat ourselves differently to how we would treat a dear friend or a family member. Stefan facilitates self-awareness and self-compassion which allows us to enjoy the treasure of kindness that we typically only reserve for our loved ones. The power of compassion and kindness is such that it heals and transforms our wounds. It is inherently important to Stefan that you feel received and understood. All that you bring to your appointments with Stefan is welcome. Stefan also makes use of a number of theoretical modalities as per your needs.

Scope:

Stefan works with older adolescents and adults. He finds purpose in helping people who are experiencing the effects of:

• Trauma and complex trauma
• Interpersonal difficulties
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Overwhelm and intense emotions
• Military service
• Men’s mental health
• Grief
• Adjustment/life transitions
• Queer specific problems, such as coming out, internalised homophobia/transphobia, etc.
• Cancer and end of life. 

About Stefan:

Stefan is constantly witnessing the transforming power of compassion which gives him hope for the recovery of his clients. He is a human being first, and a psychologist second, which is to say that he is more informal than clinical in his outlook and approach. He is curious, warm, and respectful by nature and his appointments follow the same principles.
