The aim of this unit is to assist students to develop an advanced understanding of adult psychopathology. Students will acquire the clinical knowledge and skills necessary to assess, diagnose and treat severe manifestations of a range of specific mental disorders.  Each week the assessment, diagnosis and treatment intervention for a different mental disorder, or group of disorders, will be addressed. There will also be a focus on how the mental health system operates and the systemic issues which act as barriers to accessing services for people with lifestyle and mental health issues, along with carer and consumer perspectives.
