The aim of this unit is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary in clinical work with children and adolescents, from family inclusive principles of practice. It will introduce the attachment and systems theories and their applications in the assessment and treatment planning in working with youth. This unit will explore humanistic approaches relevant to working with families and children, including the practical application of expressive and play therapies. The theories covered will be applied to case conceptualisation and treatment planning for common presenting issues in clinical practice with children and adolescents.
